Main characteristics	Sparganium erectum is a rhizomatous marsh plant consisting of stems with triangular green leaves arranged in a fan shape. Sparganium has a high water-purifying efficacy
Flowering	In summer, it develops a branched inflorescence producing spherical white flowers. After flowering, the fruit remains, taking the form of a hedgehog
Flowering period	June – August
Edibility	The rhizome is edible cooked and it has a sweetish taste. The base of the stems is also edible cooked. The plant can also be a source of food for wild animals
