Main characteristics	Stratiotes aloides is a floating plant consisting of a rosette of erect emerged leaves. In summer, it occasionally produces white flowers
Cultivation notes	Plant suitable for fresh climates. Not suitable for southern Italian regions or other places with particularly high temperatures
Reproduction	The plant reproduces through stolons that form in the centre of the leaf rosette. In autumn, the entire plant sinks into the water to the bottom, then it resurfaces in spring
Planting depth	It is meant to float on water. Like all floating plants, it needs nutrient-rich water to vegetate
